About the Bartholomew County Public Library

Our mission is “Providing resources for lifelong learning and enjoyment."  We offer services to the citizens of Bartholomew County via the Main Library in Columbus, Hope Branch Library, and Bookmobile service with at least one stop in every township.
 
At an annual cost of less than $50 per person (the price of buying your own hardback book plus a DVD), we provide access to more than 200,000 books, large print books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and magazines. We provide 24/7 online services including databases, downloading books, music, and magazines. Programs, one-on-one “Book a Librarian” assistance, public computer, and public wireless are available at the Main Library or Hope Branch. Meeting spaces at the Main Library or Hope Branch are free of charge for non-profit use. Talking Books, housed in the Main Library, serves persons with visual or physical handicaps in 16 southeast Indiana counties. The Main Library also houses the collection of the Columbus Indiana Architectural Archives and Digital Underground media lab.
